Do lessons help?

by admin Email

Some days, I found golf impossible! One day was a big slice; the next day was a huge draw! I tried to correct it, my swing would not listen!

The last thing I want is to embed a bad swing into the muscle memory. It becomes harder to correct. Time like this called for golf lessons! A golf swing is so intricate that a minor adjustment can make a big difference. We can’t always see how we perform a golf swing. With technology these days, golf pro can take a video of our golf swing front on and side on, so that we can see exactly where we went wrong. Powerful stuff!

Having said that, trying to correct old habits is not always easy and sometimes, might even complicate things and make the swing worse! As we try to correct a bad habit, we might create another!

I personally prefer to have regular golf lessons. I believe in continuous improvement. Nine times out of ten, I swing better after a lesson.

What has been your experience ?

After two golf lessons, I finally understand why I was slicing the ball so badly! By using a video camera, the pro showed me what I was doing wrong. It was very obvious, however, I could not figure it out for myself before the lessons!

Unfortunately, knowing what I have done wrong was one thing, correcting the muscle memory was another!!

This experience has confirmed my belief that regular golf lessons is essential to improve my golf game.

Like to know if any one have the same experience? Share the name of the pro and their teaching style?

Went to the range last night. It was a bit of a struggle trying to improve my swing. I know what needs to be done, but, trying to control my body and muscles to do the right thing is really tough!

Golf is such a mental game! I have to control my mind and my spirit at the same time. Focus on the present, don't think of what has happened in the last shot, don't focus on what I might do wrong. Focus on what I need to do right this moment!

Spiritually, not to be too hard on myslef! Forgive myself for all the mistakes I made and be thankful for the beautiful "swoosh" I make! Keeping a postive frame of mind and keep practicing!

Played a game of 18 holes golf at Chatswood Golf Club last Sunday, the first for the year! It was great! It took 9 holes of play before I got my swing happening. I would say that I had some good swings 15% of the time. No matter, the golf lessons pay off! I actually par one hole and have a few very decent scores! That was enough to make me determine to continue on and improve!!
